Meet Tracy, our new Head Trainer
We’re thrilled to introduce Tracy, our new Head Trainer stepping in while Caro is on maternity leave. To help you get to know her better, we asked Tracy seven questions about her life, passions, and fitness philosophy.
Here’s what she had to say:
1. Tell us a bit about where you live and your family life
I live in sunny Blenheim, the wine capital where endless vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see, and the stunning Marlborough Sounds are right at my doorstep 🍷✨. My children are now young adults, each embracing their own adventures, and
I’m gradually emerging from the shadows of an empty nest. Fortunately, I have a lovely grandson to cherish, and I have a close bond with my children. I enjoy spending time with them and their partners. When we get together, the atmosphere is lively and filled with conversation and laughter.
2. Where’s the best place you’ve ever travelled to, and why?
An incredible six-week adventure across America 🇺🇸✈️! Traveling from New Zealand to Hawaii, then on to San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Disneyland. From LA, we rented an RV and journeyed to Las Vegas, followed by a road trip through Route 66 to Chicago. Our final stop before heading home was the vibrant city of New York.
It was truly a trip of a lifetime, and I cherished experiencing it not just through my own eyes, but through the delighted perspectives of my children as well. Those six weeks were filled with quality, unforgettable moments, igniting my passion for travel!
3. What’s a fun or surprising fact about you that most people wouldn’t know?
People are often surprised to learn that I love a glass of wine with some fries, what a combo! 🍷🍟
Being a Personal Trainer, it is thought that I wouldn't eat anything unhealthy, but I do live by the saying life is for living so I'm all about the fries! Oh, and I do have a slight addiction to carrots.
4. What’s your favourite way to spend a day off?
On or near the water! I love boating in the Marlborough Sounds, wakeboarding, relaxing on the beach, swimming, and spending time with my family and friends.
There’s nothing more rejuvenating than a day by the water. 🌊☀️
5. Do you have a go-to recipe or meal you love to make?
I’m a big fan of Polly Markus from Miss Polly’s Kitchen. 🥗✨ Last summer, I couldn’t get enough of her Green Quinoa Harissa Salad, I made it on repeat!
I love fresh, flavourful salads that are both nutritious and delicious.
6. If you could only choose one exercise to do forever, what would it be and why?
Running has become an essential part of my mental health routine. 🏃♀️🧠
It's during these runs that I find clarity and inspiration, solving problems and contemplating life’s mysteries with each step. All I need is a good pair of running shoes, and I'm ready to go. Running also allows me to explore new places, turning every run into an adventure. Whether it's a familiar route or a new trail, I love discovering the beauty around me.
7. What’s a TV show, book, or podcast you’re loving right now?
I’m a podcast enthusiast, and Dom Harvey’s show is my absolute favourite. Some standout episodes include interviews with Nigel Latta, All Blacks S&C Coach Dr. Nic Gill, and Andrew Webster. I love listening to inspirational motivating stories.
8. What’s your top tip for finding balance between fitness and everyday life?
One top tip for balancing fitness and everyday life is to schedule your workouts like appointments. Treat your exercise time as non-negotiable, just like any other important commitment. This way, you're more likely to prioritise your fitness goals while still managing your daily responsibilities. I also aim to find balance in life by following the 80/20 rule when it comes to nutrition and fitness.
This means I focus on making healthy choices 80% of the time while allowing myself some flexibility for indulgences 20% of the time. It helps me stay on track without feeling deprived.
We’re so excited to have Tracy on the DediKate team! Her energy, experience, and passion for empowering women will be a fantastic addition. Be sure to join one of her workouts (first one will be live on DediKate at the end of Jan '25) and get to know her better!
